What is Storyguana?

Storyguana is a public story maze. Each story starts with a prompt, and anyone can add the next branch — no account required. Stories grow as a tree: every node can have multiple continuations written by different people. You read, you pick a path, you add a turn.

How to read

• Go to All Stories and pick a prompt.
• Read the current node. If there are branches below, click one to continue.
• Each story can fork in many directions — there is no single "correct" path.

How to add a branch

• Navigate to any published node and scroll to the "Add the next branch" form.
• Write what happens next — a paragraph, a scene, a twist. Max 500 words.
• No account required. You can add an optional display name, or stay anonymous.
• Every submission goes into a moderation queue before it goes live.

Community rules

Storyguana is for collaborative fiction. To keep it readable and fun for everyone, the following content is not allowed:

• Pornography or explicit sexual content.
• Hate speech — content that demeans people based on race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or national origin.
• Harassment or threats targeting real individuals.
• Doxxing — sharing private personal information about real people.
• Defamation — false statements of fact about real, identifiable people.
• Spam or self-promotion — no links, no ads, no repeated filler content.
• Plagiarism — don't paste copyrighted text from books, scripts, or other sources.

Moderation

All new branches are reviewed before publishing. Moderators may remove content that violates these rules without notice. Prompts are currently created by the Storyguana team only.

If you see content that violates these rules, use the Report button on any branch.

Content license

By submitting a branch, you grant Storyguana a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, archive, and reproduce your submission as part of the story. You retain ownership of your writing. We may feature popular branches in curated collections.

Privacy

We do not require you to create an account. We log a hashed (non-reversible) version of your IP address for spam and rate-limiting purposes only. This data is not shared with third parties. We use cookies only as required by WordPress. No tracking or advertising cookies are set on this site.
